About Lama Je Tsongkhapa
Lama Je Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, is considered one of the most important Buddhist teachers in history. Born in Amdo, Tibet, Tsongkhapa was a prodigious scholar, known for his dedication to learning and his deep understanding of Buddhist teachings. He received ordination at the young age of three from the 4th Karmapa, Rolpe Dorje, and by his early years, Tsongkhapa was already receiving empowerments from powerful deities such as Heruka Chakrasamvara, Hevajra, and Yamantaka.
Throughout his life, Tsongkhapa traveled extensively, studying under over 100 teachers across various Buddhist traditions. He mastered disciplines such as the six yogas of Naropa, Kalachakra Tantra, Mahamudra, and Dzogchen. His teachings are preserved in several volumes that explore every aspect of Buddhism, many of which were composed through visions he received from deities, especially Manjusri.
